Arena Standard - Breach the Earth

Now here's an Abzan Mill pile for you.

The gameplan? Draw way too many cards and mill like crazy until you run out of library. Then use Turn the Earth to keep you in the game while you keep shuffling more Breaches into your library to spam until your opponent runs out of library.

This deck runs a pretty standard BW Control package with 3 Sunfalls, 2 Farewells, 2 Gophers, and 2 Edicts, with Union of the Third Path and March of Wretched Sorrow to pad out the life total. Tear Asunder is a fantastic card in the meta with lots and lots of targets.

We run Phyrexian Arena as a four-of to ensure you can draw into more answers than your opponent can play threats. Yes, four. It's a lot. But it's always better to have it available by turn three to maximize your card draw. Phyrexian Arena allows you to draw past otherwise irrelevant cards (e.g. additional Arenas or Turn the Earths) and minimize the deckbuilding cost. You can also pitch these extra Arenas and part-black top-ends to March of Wretched Sorrow.

Union of the Third Path synergizes well with Phyrexian Arena as it can completely undo the life loss incurred by the Arena.

BE AWARE THAT PHYREXIAN ARENA WILL NOT HOLD PRIORITY AGAINST SHEOLDREDS OR HAVING AN EMPTY LIBRARY.

You must be vigilant in placing stops on your upkeep in these instances. (I would just start putting a stop vs mono black the moment you drop an Arena to prevent an end-step Sheoldred from cheesing 2 life from you)

In addition to Phyrexian Arena, Vraska and Kaya each serve to continue the card draw engine and will replace themselves so that your opponents fall farther behind even when they have immediate answers.

I run two Seats of Eiganjo because the chances you actually get stuck having to sacrifice one is very small, and that option to hit an attacker for 4 is very nice to have.

HOW TO DO THE THING:

With a Turn the Earth in hand, or three in your graveyard, and when you get close to decking yourself, begin placing stops on your upkeep. As soon as you have drawn your last card, use Turn the Earth to shuffle back in a Breach and at least one other Turn the Earth (I also like throwing in a land to continue ramping)

As you draw into the TTE that you have shuffled in, you can use that to shuffle the first one back and repeat ad nauseum. Be careful not to Breach away the last of your library without having a TTE in hand. By now, you will probably already have a Kaya and a Vraska. Be sure to use their abilities first as you will be able to use one of your Planeswalker abilities again each time you Breach. Additionally, you can tuck away Unions to create spammable explosive life gain that will safely draw you into shuffled TTEs when you run out of card draw.

If you're feeling exceptionally cruel, you can set up all four Arenas, a Vraska, and a Kaya to allow you to shuffle something to the tune of 16 of your opponent's milled lands into their empty library per turn, dooming them to draw nothing but lands for the rest of the game. Or until they tap out.
