Rakdos Treasures is a very strong archetype in Standard at the moment, and I think this budget deck is able to capture the main strengths of that deck for a fraction of the price. The core of the deck is our early game treasure package coupled with some strong late game finishers to close out games. Let's go ahead and check out what our deck has going on.
So, this is our early game Treasure/Sacrifice Package. Our one drops are made up of Eyetwitch and Shambling Ghast which are both excellent sacrifice fodder and value sources. Their utility makes them really solid anti-aggro cards to play in the early game that do not lose out on much value against other less aggressive decks. Deadly Dispute and Skullport Merchant are our main card draw and sacrifice engines. They both are able to take great advantage of our one drops and treasures, of which we will generally have quite a bit lying around, and convert them into card advantage for a very small price. As far as our treasure payoffs go, we've got Kalain, Reclusive Painter who can provide some really explosive turns thanks to its treasure generation and +1/+1 counter effect. All in all our early game package is really strong thanks to its anti-aggro capabilities and massive value generation - it is very hard for us to fall behind with this deck.
Not a ton to say in this section. These are all really powerful cards that we can take advantage in our deck and help us close out the game against our opponent.
This is our removal package, which you'll notice is quite cheap. Frost Bite and Dragon's Fire are both very efficient early removal that we can take advantage of for gaining the upper hand early in the game. They both hit planeswalkers too, which is very important, and Dragon's Fire has the potential to do even more damage if we have a dragon available. Gelatinous Cube is a decent piece of removal on a stick - we will often be able to pay the Dissolve cost, but even if we can't we can usually take advantage of the tempo swing it provides us.
Like I mentioned before, Rakdos Treasure is a high tier deck in Standard at the moment, so this is a very good deck option to upgrade. If you're interested in upgrading the deck more fully, here are some suggestions.
CONCLUSION
I hope you enjoy this deck and that it serves you well. There's a deck tech video on youtube attached to this guide and I stream on Twitch here so don't hesitate to reach out :) I'd love to hear your experience with the deck. Good luck and have fun!
