Description

I'm sorry it's been so long since I've posted content, I'm from the United States gulf coast and I'm essentially homeless right now due to the hurricanes. Nevertheless, I refuse to allow outside influences to keep me from bringing you lovely ladies and gentlemen fun and fresh content. So without further ado I bring you The Doom Squad...

On turn one we have Alseid of life's bounty, archfiend' vessel, and whisper squad. Of the three, whisper squad is the most important because we use it as a mana sink, we can use it to search the library for more of them, it's a human so it synergizes with General Kudro, and it is recurrable with Lurrus. Originally I was using four copies of giant killer, but found Alseid synergizes better with the deck to keep Lurrus on the field doing his thing, and as a cheap recurrable enchantment that synergizes excellently with archon of suns grace. Lastly, we run archfiend's vessel because it feels so good to play Lurrus into archfiend's vessel from the graveyard on turn four to create a 5/5 flying demon token. All of our one drops are highly expendable because we can easily bring them back with Lurrus.

On turn two, we have one of three plays. If the opponents board is empty, we prefer to use whisper squads activated ability to start bringing out more weenie creatures that we can use to beat our opponent down and/or sacrifice them to doom foretold. Against aggro, or a deck we are familiar with, we will use Runed Halo to protect ourselves from our opponent. Don't be afraid to name a small creature with it, as the plan is to sacrifice it to doom foretold anyway, and once it's in our graveyard we can pull it back out with Lurrus and name a more powerful creature to protect ourselves from it should we need to, and runed halo also synergizes with archon of suns grace. This is, hands down, the best use I've found for the card Runed Halo. Absent these plays, we need to be playing more one drops.

For turn three we have omen of the sun which is an enchantment that we love sacrificing to doom foretold, and it creates two humans which get a +1/1 pump from General Kudro. We have demonic embrace as yet another recurrable enchantment we can cast from the graveyard. We have General Kudro to pump all of our humans and to hate on our opponents graveyard. Our most important three drop is Lurrus. With this card we can fuel doom foretold indefinitely, whether it be to recur our sweet one drops, or to recur runed halo if we need protection from something bigger.

As our four drops we run archon of suns grace because it synergizes well with the 18 enchantments we run in the deck... and of course we run four copies of our decks namesake, Doom Foretold. Between whisper Squad, omen of the sun, demonic embrace, and Lurrus we always have more gas to sacrifice than our opponent.

Typically, we play the Control game by having more pieces to sacrifice than our opponent, then overrun them when they run out of gas. However, this deck is also capable of getting a hot start and aggro-ing our opponent if we flood the board with one drops and pump them with the General and/or resolve demonic embrace on one or more of our creatures.

I hope y'all enjoy the deck as much as I've enjoyed brewing it for y'all. If you have a card, cards, or general deck idea, please do not hesitate to make a request as I'd thoroughly enjoy brewing something up for you. Thank y'all for y'all's continued support and, as always, good luck!

You humble me. We all have our own trials, and I'm no different than anyone else. There are a lot of people on here that put out great content, but recognition does feel good. I appreciate your concern and the vote of confidence. Have no fear, I'll be playing and probably putting out more content as early as this evening. I'm going to be doing this as long as Mark Rosewater continues to print cards!
