Today we are playing Raise the Past
combo. This deck involves filling our graveyard with creatures to reanimate. Mass reanimating our creatures gives us lots of life gain triggers from our Hinterland Sanctifier
s, Lifecreed Duo
s, and Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim
. These life gain triggers turn into burn with Starscape Cleric
and burn our opponent out of the game. The backup plan is use the death triggers from Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim with Bartolome del Presidio or Amalia Benavides Aguirre
which can sacrifice or blow up all our creatures. We fill our graveyard in this deck using Snarling Gorehound
, Gnawing Vermin
, Amalia Benavides Aguirre, and The Tale of Tamiyo
. The Tale of Tamiyo is the special spice I added to my version of this deck, but I think it is a worthy inclusion. The tale helps to rapidly fill the graveyard, draw cards, and recast Raise the Past from the graveyard. The saga has won me several games so I do not think it's a bad choice for the deck. Things to watch out while playing this deck are graveyard hate, instant speed removal on Starscape Cleric, Screaming Nemesis
, and Deadly Coverup. Any of those cards or effects can weaken or break this decks gameplan. Into graveyard hate, you do still have a chance of winning by simply playing as a orzhov lifegain deck making massive Essence Channeler
s, a big Amalia Benavides Aguirre, or draining with Starscape Cleric. Thanks for watching, and I hope you enjoy the deck!
