Description

Resurrect the beast, then watch it stomp!

Version 4 of the deck, now improved with Zombifyimage!

image image

Introduction

This is the fourth version of a dinosaur reanimation deck in Jund colors. It aims at resurrecting Ghalta, Stampede Tyrantimage with Zombifyimage or Rakdos Joins Upimage and then put into play several high-mana dinosaurs. The dinos can gain haste from Palani's Hatcherimage or Bitter Reunionimage and end the game in a single turn with the opponent not being able to cast any sorcery-speed removal.

As a backup plan, you can hard-cast dinosaurs. In that case, Cavern of Soulsimage is useful for providing uncounterability.

New Cards Since Previous Version

From Foundations

Zombify is a great reanimation spell, because it costs only 4 mana.

Duress can be useful vs counterspells and such.

Deck Design

Reanimation

image image

  • Count: 6

Rakdos Joins Up is great for animating legendary creatures, such as Ghalta, Stampede Tyrantimage, because if they happen to die, they deal a hefty amount of damage to the opponent.

Crafting

image image

  • Count: 2

Saheeli's Lattice can be used to craft Mastercraft Raptor. It can get very big, especially if you use a couple of Ghalta, Stampede Tyrantimage to craft it. Crafting works with cards in the graveyard, so it's perfect for this deck. However, because it lacks trample and an evasion ability, Mastercraft Raptor is only of limited use.

Spot Removal

image image

  • Count: 5

Torch the Tower can be bargained with Bitter Reunionimage, Saheeli's Lattice // Mastercraft Raptorimage, and Rakdos Joins Upimage.

Board Wipe

image

  • Count: 3

Brotherhood's End can be used to wipe the board of small creatures or to destroy all artifacts of mana value 3 or less.

Card Draw

image

  • Count: 3

Card Selection

image image image image

  • Count: 11

Surveil lands can be used to select cards as well as fill the graveyard with big dinos.

Self-Discard Outlets

image image image image

  • Count: 12

Each of the discard outlets has also an alternative use. Bitter Reunion can be used to give haste to your team. Bitter Triumph acts as a removal for both creatures and planeswalkers. Saheeli's Lattice can be used as a semi-reanimation spell as you can craft it into Saheeli's Lattice // Mastercraft Raptorimage. Trumpeting Carnosaur can be used to deal damage to a creature or planeswalker and then later reanimated.

Direct Damage

image

  • Count: 2

When a legendary creature dies, Rakdos Joins Up deals direct damage to the opponent.

Life Gain

image

  • Count: 3

Discard Opponent's Cards

image

  • Count: 1

Duress is useful for taking out the opponent's counterspells and removal spells that could interfere with your reanimation plans.

Counterspell Protection

image

  • Count: 1

Cavern of Souls can provide uncounterability, if you are going to cast dinosaurs in a fair way.

Format

  • The deck is for the Standard format with Tarkir: Dragonstorm being the last legal set.
  • The deck is probably Tier 2 caliber.
  • The deck can be played in both Bo1 and Bo3.

Source

Even though this version of the deck is my own design, it is very much inspired by other dinosaur reanimator decks.
