Top Standard Decks December 2022

With the Brothers' War release behind us, we look at the top-performing Standard decks going into December. Starting with the top 8 performing decks from Standard Tournaments, then the top decks from MTG Arena Best of 3 and Best of 1 format.

Standard MTG Top 8 tournament meta

Grixis Control is up for a headstart and is closely followed by Esper Raffine, a deck with incredibly strong and efficient creatures. Jund, Mono Blue, and Azorious Aggro are barely in front of the Mono White Control deck. December is shaping up to be an exciting month for the Metagame. Mono-red, nowhere to be seen, and outpaced by other more intricate aggro decks.

Best-performing Traditional Standard decks

The MTG Arena Standard metagame has many similarities with the Tournament metagame; however, we see some Mono-red decks close to the top, together with Mono black midrange, as they are part of the cheaper decks to build. Mono blue tempo is performing well and is the cheapest deck to build, with only five rares and no mythic cards! Data from MTGA Assistant.

Best-performing Standard BO1 decks

There are more aggro-focused decks on the top, but they still come out short against Mono Black Midrange, which is a head above everything else. Selesnya Enchantments, not seen in BO3 with great success praying on the more aggressive decks in the BO1 meta. The more aggressive decks win out against the slower and more sideboard-dependent Control decks. But even so, I have to say I feel there is something to play for everyone here, a great diverse meta.... for now. Data procured from MTGA Assistant.
