Step 1: Resolve Nikya of the Old Ways
this can be made easier in an Esper heavy meta with Rhythm of the Wild
Step 2: Jam Hasty fatties until you win Samut, Tyrant Smasher
+ Etali, Primal Storm
is lots of fun.
Step 3: See if you can make an 'x' = 20 Hungering Hydra
(trust me its fun especially when it gets trample thanks to Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma
)
Step 4: You can work this bit out right.....
The Karn's Bastion
is great at keeping the Samut, Tyrant Smasher around for that lovely scry value. (Its almost as good as drawing cards.... almost,) and its not uncommon for your entrie board to have counters on it even without the Jiang Yanggu, Wildcrafter
from the sideboard.
For Control matchups it really is a case of stick a Rhythm of the Wild or you loose although the Gruul Spellbreaker
can be a good delaying tactic too. If you are siding something out id go for the Etali, Primal Storm as it has a higher chance of missing against control.
For Burn you want to bring in the Diamond Mare
and the Gruul Spellbreaker.... the Zhur-Taa Goblin
doesnt tend to survive so maybe take them out or failing that, even with Llanowar Elves
the Vivien Reid
is often times just to slow. She can hit Experimental Frenzy
so theres an argument for keeping her in depending on the build your against though.
Reclamation Sage
is a powerhouse in alot of matchups, its probably my most sided in card.... there might be an argument for putting it in the 60 especially once i swap the Vivien Reid's for Domri, Anarch of Bolas
The only time ill bring the Lava Coil
in is to deal with Rekindling Phoenix
or Nicol Bolas, the Ravager // Nicol Bolas, the Arisen
it gets stuck behind the Nikya of the Old Ways to often otherwise.
Against midrange is the best time to bring in the Jiang Yanggu, Wildcrafter to try and get that massive Hungering Hydra (its so worth it)
If you see alot of Cruel Celebrant
decks (which i do surprisingly) it might be worth adding in a few Tibalt, Rakish Instigator
because without the lifegain you can normally outrace them.
Depending on the meta your in the only thing the deck has no real answer to is walkers so it might be worth adding in some dedicated hate personally i like Sarkhan's Unsealing
or Domri's Ambush
for this slot
The maybeboard has answers to tokens in Goblin Chainwhirler
and even more control hate in Cindervines
I want to swap the Vivien Reid for the Domri, Anarch of Bolas but wildcards :(
