Mono Black Blood Gisa Deck Guide

I’m working on this deck since the beginning of the Standard 22 Bo1 queue. 

I am a Bo3 player but I’ve joined that queue a lot because I was in search of new decks to brew since I was tired of Eldraine Standard.

I’ve tried a lot of different brews in bo1 queue and since the release of Innistrad: Midnight Hunt I’ve finally brewed the Bo3 version of this deck with a lot of new cards.

This type of deck was very successful in bo1 (80%+ winrate) between platinum and diamond ranked.

The bo3 brew is working well against the current meta so I’ve decided to post it so players that want to try something different than Gruul or Izzet or mono-agro decks could test a solid deck vs the current meta (75%+ winrate also in bo3 atm).

I’ve seen that last week also Grzegorz Kowalski posted his so good version of the same concept and his also very surprised about how good this deck his vs current meta. My list is a lot different and it includes Gisa.

Key Cards

Blood on the snow - best mass removal in the format imho, typically gives you huge advantage on the board

Lolth, Spider Queen - Spiders protect you from flyers and help to win the game with menace

Faceless Haven - strongest land in the format imho

Creatures

4x Shambling Ghast - Chump blocking, removal or ramp assist

3x Sedgemoor Witch - Menace + ward + magecraft (making chump blockers)

2x Ebondeath, Dracolich - Flash + you can cast from the graveyard

2x Gelatinous Cube - good body for a creature that also is a removal

3x Gisa, Glorious Resurrector - in a deck full of removals this is very good

Removals

3x Infernal Grasp - this card is polarizing players, for me is a solid 3x

3x Soul Shatter 

1x Bloodline Culling - meta is full of 2/2 tokens so I’ve put this card also in main deck

3x Baleful Mastery

4x Blood on the snow

Other spells

4x Deadly Dispute - card drawing + ramping

1x Pelakka Predation

Win-cons

Spiders with menace + Faceless Haven (typically after a blood on the snow in mid/late game)
Gisa (attacking opponent with his own creatures after we used removals)
Dracolich

Why

Why not other lands? Atm no fields of ruin or creature lands. Imho make consistent full snow-mana blood on the snow is key to win. 
Why not Onyx? I’ve tested it and it was not a strong wincon so I’ve made the cut for other spells
Why not Eyetwitch + learn mechanic? This is a solid choice for bo1 version of the deck but I prefer to not use learn in bo3 and build a full sideboard.

Sideboard cards

4 Shadows' Verdict - Huge vs current meta full of aggro decks

2 The Meathook Massacre - Mass removal with other upsides (can close the game by itself)

2 Bloodline Culling - vs tokens 

1 Ebondeath, Dracolich - vs Control

3 Crippling Fear  - vs Aggro creatures decks

1 Lolth, Spider Queen  - vs Control

2 Pithing Needle - Target Wrenn and Seven for example

Sideboard Suggestions

Vs MonoGreen or Monowhite 

+4 Verdict +2 Massacre +3 Fear +2 Culling (instead go for +2 Needle if vs Wrenn Deck)

-2 Dracolich -1 Shatter -3 Mastery -3 Witch -2 Dispute

 (Verdict is in anti-sinergy with Gisa so you can opt also to remove her, but i was fine also leaving her in the deck)

Vs Izzet Dragons

+2 Culling +2 Massacre +1 Lolth

-1 Shatter -2 Mastery -1 Grasp -1 Ghast

Vs Control

+1 Lolth +1 Ebondeath +2 Pithing Needle

-2 Cube -2 Mastery
