The deck is built around two key cards:
The main goal of the decks is to reanimate Vilis, Broker of Blood. The rest of the creatures fuel the graveyard to find Vilis, Broker of Blood. But they can also play defense or start chipping in damage. The deck needs a high amount of creatures to be able to reliably cast Blood for Bones on turn 4. The secondary reanimation spell is Bond of Revival. You need to pay an additional mana but you're compensated with an 8/8 flying demon that can immediately swing for damage. Command the Dreadhorde is another reanimation spell which is slower but brings combo potential to the deck. The damage you receive when reviving Vilis, Broker of Blood and other creatures or planeswalker translates to massive card draw. Sometimes this can depleat the cards in your deck which usually results in a loss but Jace, Wielder of Mystery turns it into a win.
There are also some utility cards. Thought Erasure disrupts opponents while also fueling the graveyard. Vraska's Contempt is the first pure removal spell. Tyrant's Scorn is the second removal spell which can also save creatures or return them to hand to unlock their ETB effects. Bond of Insight is a neat card for the deck. It digs for the reanimation spells and/or can return them if we already milled them.
Let's talk about Vilis, Broker of Blood:
This creature is your finisher and a removal / card draw engine. Its ability kills opposing creatures while filling up your hand. But every other kind of damage you take will draw you cards. That includes your shock lands, burn spells targeted at your face and creatures crashing down on your life total. Vilis, Broker of Blood compensates your life loss with card advantage.
Bone Dragon is another small angle of attack for the deck.
The deck has a huge weakness. Graveyard hate completely shuts it down. You can try to beat opponents down but the creatures are way to small to do so effectively. Also playing against Command the Dreadhorde decks using Wildgrowth Walker and creatures with Explore is horrendous. The creatures and planeswalkers are more powerful to win without using the graveyard strategy. While you are fueling your graveyard you are also providing them with reanimation targets which can turn out very bad for you. Another weakness are very grindy match-ups. You need to pay attention to not deck yourself. This can happen quickly not only because you're milling yourself but also because Vilis, Broker of Blood draws you a huge amount of play when it stays in play. But I included an alternative win condition with Jace, Wielder of Mystery. This planeswalkers can turn this weakness of the deck into a win condition.
Notes on the maybeboard: If Grafdigger's Cage becomes a sideboard staple you can think about including Hostage Taker in your sideboard or even mainboard. Against graveyard hate on enchantments like Leyline of the Void you're screwed.
