Midrange

Another set, another sacrifice deck :)

Kind of combo-midrange, our plan is to play a bunch of dorks and kill them to trigger lots of death effects, killing the key pieces of our opponent in the process.

As a Collected Company deck, we feature 31 maindeck creatures of costs 3 or less (and potential other three 4 costs in the back side of Valentin, and a manland...), 9 sac outlets (and 4 self-sacrifice creatures), and a lot of interaction, both in the main deck and in the sideboard.

With no Uro, but lots of sorceries and instants from the Mystical archive it was difficult to overvalue the opponents the way my last deck did. Also, although the core remains the same, the white splash opens lots of possibilities in the form of hatebears, some protection and redundancy. So this is its evolution, in a certain sense.

Maindeck, the biggest additions are callous bloodmage instead of the weaponcraft enthusiast, Valentin, Dean of vein, and the white splash. The bloodmage allows to sacrifice him and the pest to the priest as we did with the enthusiast, but also draw o hate graveyards maindeck at instant speed with CoCo, so it is similar in the early game, but much more powerful in the mid to late game. Valentin, Dean of vein, helps hate the graveyard against phoenix decks, and with the priest you can sac a pest and a goat (or whatever, really), and pay the Valentin trigger with that mana to get back a pest. On the other side, Lisette can be cast later on to turn all our board to monsters with the many life gain triggers we have (the artists, the scorpios, the pests,...)

The white part protects our sac outlets, adds redundancy in the form of cruel celebrant, and is removal attached to a creature with skyclave apparition (keep in mind that if you sac the app before its enter the battlefield trigger resolves, they never get back any token). Also adds some cool sideboard options to fight back specially against combo, sultai ultimatum, tribal decks, Ulamog decks,...

This deck kills really fast with the right hand, even through interaction. The worst matchup for now has been temur flash/opus. Turns out torrential gearhulk is a very powerful magic card...

Some tricks:

- the nexus can be a flyer aggro creature, or a disposal sac fodder. It can generate the 1 mana it costs to activate its ability, just don't allow Arena to autotap

- you are allowed to sacrifice the artists or the celebrants, just they are better on the table. It also applies to woe striders, Valentin, and mostly any creature in the deck...

- Hopefully you sould find many creatures with the CoCos, choose according to the table. You may have lethal with an artist and a scorpion, rather than remove something with an app. After sideboard there will be around 26-27 creatures, so the hits are a bit slimmer

- Extinction event and the wrath (doesn't really matter what wrath is since there is no more regen around) sounds a bit silly in a creature deck, BUT... we are a deck that wants creatures DYING... We can set up our board so we don't lose any creature with the event but wipe out an army of elf tokens, and with enough creatures and artists in play a wrath can be a board reset or a wincon

- Mana tithe is kind of a meme, but can be an answer to turn 3 neoform or to an ultimatum with 7 mana

- We shouldn't have any problems triggering the spear cost reduction, just trying it instead of assassin's trophy. We miss the land target, but for now there are no real problems with lands (I mean, no Tron in Historic for now...). We have 13 sources of lifegain, 16 if we count the pests of the bloodmage.

- Kill the hushbringers of the auras deck on sight and be aware of Rest in Peace and Leyline of the Void, they turn off half of our deck and our main wincons. We don't really care about our graveyard, as long as our creatures can go there. Sure, we have some recursion in woe strider and the Agadeem's awakening, but usually they're a value play in the late game, not the main gameplan

Righ now my record is 3-1 in ladder, 5-0 in play queue, so seems promising. Any suggestions, specially for the side, are welcome

Have fun!
