This is a Mishra-themed deck that packs quite a punch. It stands as a rival to my Urzaβs Epiphany deck, but with a twist: itβs designed for standard play. The heart of this deck revolves around the synergy between Phyrexian Fleshgorger and Undying Malice. This combination allows for some nifty creature placement, although there are other strategies tucked up the deck's sleeve. Whether it's overwhelming foes with trample damage or skillfully melding into Mishra, Lost to Phyrexia, there's a dynamic range of tactics at play.
The Creatures:
Evolved Sleeper serves as an excellent opening play, a versatile 1-drop that can be amplified with extra mana, and it evolves into a formidable threat later on. It gains deathtouch and becomes a font of card draw, offering resilience and utility as the match unfolds.
Phyrexian Dragon Engine adds a layer of complexity with its double strike attribute, and its graveyard resurgence not only provides card draw but also sets the stage for the next card's strategic application.
Mishra, Claimed by Gix embodies audacious ambition, seeking the thrilling "Meld" while inherently being a solid contender in its own right.
Mishra, Tamer of Mak Fawa synergizes remarkably with the deck, amplifying ward on all fronts and paving the way for the impactful reentry of our next card, generating a significant impact.
Phyrexian Fleshgorger takes the spotlight as the guardian of Ward in this assembly. Its damage potential ties directly to its power, inviting us to optimize our spells for heightened potency. Furthermore, it unlocks the intriguing prospect of summoning it anew, invoking the concept of "cheating" it onto the field through the strategic deployment of Undying Malice.
The Spells
Undying Malice Not Dead After All partners with Phyrexian Fleshgorger for a crafty maneuver, summoning and fortifying the creature while compelling your opponent to pay its ward anew.
Go for the Throat or Infernal Grasp based on the prevailing meta and for swift removal, choose between. Alternatively, consider using both to balance your options.
Voltage Surge Torch the Tower delivers reliable creature damage, scaling when needed. Another option is Cut down here, which harmonizes well with your strategy.
The Other Stuff:
Mishra's Research Desk enables deck exploration for additional cards, enhanced further by its unearth cost for subsequent use.
Transmogrant's Crown bolsters creature power and card draw upon their demise, with the trade-off of amplifying the ward cost for our Fleshgorger. It also had a good synergy on the second main phase with are next card.
Urabrask's Forge imposes persistent pressure, intensifying in threat level with every progressing turn, and just annoying for our opponents in general if not dealt with.
The Gameplan:
Let you opponent try to deal with your creatures and watch as they inadvertently inflict more suffering upon themselves while you manipulate and safeguard your creatures - strategically triggering their Ward costs. If circumstances permit, you might even achieve the elusive Meld and summon forth Mishra, Lost to Phyrexia. Urabrask's Forge and Transmogrant's Crown will work together well on the your second main phase to gain you some reoccuring card advantage which is a nice little feature. While not the swiftest deck, it possesses the capacity to deliver a potent blow at the opportune moment.
