The deck I built around Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief and Vesuvan Duplimancy is a true joy to play. While not particularly groundbreaking, it has a clear focus on creating duplicates, which is always a fun strategy to employ.
The Creatures:
Rootcoil Creeper is a versatile card that not only speeds up your mana, but also plays well with other creatures like Croaking Counterpart, providing another body on the field.
Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief is a fantastic 2/1 flyer that can take advantage of spells stolen from your opponent's deck or those cast on their creatures. It has incredible synergy with many of the spells in this deck and even benefits from stolen spells, as its name suggests. Almost every spell in this deck pairs well with Ivy, except for the counter spells which protect it most!
Stormchaser Drake is another 2/1 flyer that works great with Ivy. The Drake draws a card when targeted, and when combined with Ivy, you can copy the spell and both creatures will benefit from the casted card. At the very least, you'll draw an additional card.
Venerated Rotpriest is a potent kill card that is incredibly toxic for your opponent. Making copies of this creature is a fantastic way to win.
The Spells:
Slip Out the Back provides an invaluable layer of protection for your creatures, while also giving them a small yet impactful boost.
Tamiyo's Safekeeping not only keeps your precious creatures safe from harm, but also provides a much-needed burst of 2 life when you need it most.
Combat Research is a powerful tool for both damaging your opponents and building your own card advantage. This spell synergizes perfectly with each and every Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief in your deck, triggering their legendary bonus ability and adding even more value.
Tyvar's Stand is an unstoppable force, capable of boosting your flying creatures to an unparalleled level of power while simultaneously shielding them from harm. Use this killer card to sweep your enemies off the board and secure your victory.
Bring the Ending is an essential counter for your deck, a game-changing spell that must be used judiciously and strategically. Save it for those dire moments when you need to turn the tide in your favor.
Croaking Counterpart is an absolute powerhouse card that pairs perfectly with the many creatures in your deck. With its ability to activate your key cards and grant your creatures invaluable abilities, this spell is a must-have for any savvy player. And with its flashback mechanic, the fun never has to stop!
The Other Stuff:
Vesuvan Doppelganger is a phenomenal card that's essential to the deck's success, granting you a plethora of options by effortlessly cloning your creatures and exponentially increasing your battlefield presence.
The Gameplan:
At the beginning of the game, it's wise to play conservatively for the first 2 or 3 turns to avoid being hindered by removal spells until you can sufficiently protect yourself. However, once Vesuvan Duplimancy enters the battlefield, the game takes a turn for the exciting. With the ability to make copies of your creatures on a whim, you'll trigger various effects off of your spells to boost and protect your own creatures. With half of the creatures in the deck boasting flying abilities, victory should be within reach. If your opponent tries to block, use Tyvar's Stand to overwhelm them and secure the win. Personally, I revel in seeing how many copies I can make during each game as things escalate to the next level.
Not to even mention the Poison counters...
Feel free to comment if you would like to see more my decks and please link here and give me a shout out if you used this deck and had fun.
Update 1: Adjusted some quantities on things and switched out Errant, Street Artist for Rootcoil Creeper to get more mana flowing.
Update 2: added in 2 Security Bypass after a couple of annoying games with enemy flyers the I could not get damage through.
Update 3: Adjusted some quantities, and switched out Make Disappear for Negate for the dependability.
Update 4: Switched out Luxurious Libation for Tyvar's Stand, while the tokens are nice, the creature protection is better and Switch out the Haughty Djinn for Venerated Rotpriest because it's insane with this build.
decided to swap out Negate and Security Bypass for Bring the Ending, which aligns better with our new win condition of poisoning the opponent.
