A standard version of a deck I run in explorer based around the same idea, have an indestructible creature and board wipe for the win. This version is a little weaker of course but has something the other does not, the ability to not lose the game.
The Creatures:
Hopeful Initiate and Lunarch Veteran // Luminous Phantom are your one drops, just big targets for early removal, both having potential to cause issues for your opponent down the road, so they will get dealt with.
Resolute Reinforcements and Cathar Commando are your best shot against counter spells to put pressure on tempo decks, and the latter working well with Reckoner Bankbuster as a crew if need be.
Guardian of New Benalia is the MVP of the deck, using the enlist with on of the many 3/1 creature in the deck as well as the Indestructible for discard ability make this card troublesome. Using Gathering Throng comes in amazing here as it has a provides value in adding cards in hand for discard as well as enlist/crew/training fodder, or at worst just another body on the board.
Cloudsteel Kirin is a dark horse that keeps you alive if the game is going sideways. Attaching it to Guardian of New Benalia is the main goal of the deck and gives to a flyer that can get hits in when the opportunity appears.
The Spells:
Destroy Evil is pretty much a staple to use right now in standard, gets rid of the big threats as well as annoying enchantments, though I did consider Valorous Stance for the added indestructible, but overall seemed redundant.
Reckoner Bankbuster is for card draw, which is needed to feed your Guardian, its also nice body to have available especially after the next spell
Vanquish the Horde is your best friend here, wipe the board for the win and keep your Guardian alive by activating it indestructible beforehand.
The Game Plan:
A few interactions here with the enlisting/crewing/training that works out well with all the 3/1 creatures. Having enchantment destruction and a little artifact destruction as well between the Cathar Commando and the Destroy Evil work to our advantage and give us some unexpected outs.
The Main goal is to get a Guardian of New Benalia configured with a Cloudsteel Kirin which can very well win you the game, and at the very least cause a problem for your opponent to deal with. A low mana curve initially gets away with a lot here, but you do want to get up to 5 mana fast so those extra draws for the bankbuster matter, also Eiganjo, Seat of the Empire is nice to keep ahold of if possible as channel really helps against tempo decks.
Elspeth Resplendent as another level to the deck using here -3 gives us another body on the field with a shield counter, that work well with our own board wipes. Her main value is in the +1 ability, making the Guardian of New Benalia bigger and gaining more abilities which all are useful but depending on the situation, will be a game winner as the Cloudsteel Guardian Fly in for the win!
