THIS DECK NEEDS MORE PLAYTESTING. DO NOT RUSH TO USE WILDCARDS. THIS SERVES AS A POTENTIAL TEMPLATE.

GruuLD (Gruul LD) - Block constructed for Standard 2022

Updates for 8/4/2021:

I can't decide where this deck should be. It's a simple Gruul deck that CAN abuse "Gnottvold Slumbermound" if the pieces align but I feel it is too fair and lacks defense to be able to reach that point in the game. I am not very familiar with R/G so any suggestions would be appreciated. I have tried Lotus Cobra and Tangled Florahedron but feel physical lands in play is more stable than creature based mana. I've thought about turning it into Temur, Jund, or even a Naya version for added defense but feel it might be too watered down at that point.

Deck Synopsis:

-The simple idea for this deck is to make an aggressive Gruul deck but with a special twist. This deck has a nasty two card combo with "Ancient Greenwarden" and the land card "Gnottvold Slumbermound". You may play lands from your graveyard "AG" and you destroy your opponents lands with "GS" every turn, you also get a 4/4. To control your opponents creatures you use brute force as well as burn and fight spells.

Deck Breakdown:

Lands: 24 (28 counting Kazandu Valley)

6x Snow-Covered Mountain

-Target for Vastwood Surge; Powers up Frost Bite; Carries mana from Tundra Fumarole; Counts towards Blizzard Brawl.

10x Snow-Covered Forest

-Target for Vastwood Surge; Powers up Frost Bite; Carries mana from Tundra Fumarole; Counts towards Blizzard Brawl.

4x Highland Forest

-Powers up Frost Bite; Carries mana from Tundra Fumarole; Counts towards Blizzard Brawl.

4x Gnottvold Slumbermound

-Does not count toward snow permanents; this is the secret weapon of the deck. It will take 7 mana to use but you can destroy a land your opponent controls and make a 4/4 every turn. If used while "Ancient Greenwarden" is on the field you can then play it after you sacrifice it, then rinse and repeat as needed.

4x Kazandu Valley (Kazandu Mammoth)

-Does not count toward snow permamnents; If the creature form dies it can then be played from your graveyard with "Ancient Greenwarden" as a land.

Creatures: 22

4x Kazandu Mammoth

-Has great synergy with "Ancient Greenwarden". Doubles as a land incase of emergency. Gets real beefy with vastwood surge.

4x Werewolf Pack Leader

-Big body for 2 mana that can draw a card. Combo this with "Snakeskin Veil" and its ability to solo draw a card.

4x Goldspan Dragon

-No real explanation required. Can be brought out turn 4. Creates treaures worth 2 mana each. Hasty boy.

4x Ancient Greenwarden

-Did you know this card was in the deck? I have only mentioned it about a million times so far. Long boy can reach and play lands from the graveyard.

3x Scute Swarm

-I am sure you have read about the combo with "Ancient Greenwarden" and "Gnottvold Slumbermound", well having this on the field during it can completely break the game. Do you want infinite insects? (Technically 250 is the max, careful it can take 10 minutes per land drop if you get too many token insects. Once you hit the cap the game has to remove 1 insect to spawn 1 insect. That can take 1 second per trigger, you get around 506 to wade through.)

 3x Gnarled Professor

-This is a stompy boy who loves to learn.

Sorceries: 8

4x Blizzard Brawl

-Creatures fight but if you have three snow permanents you can wreck flyers or whatever you need. Grants indestructible.

2x Tundra Fumarole

-Four damage and it gives you 3 colorless refunded if you meet the required permanents.

2x Vastwood Surge

-These are here for fixing and could be played on turn 3. When you go for the "Ancient Greenwarden" land lock you can get lands on to the field without using your one per turn so you can still play "Gnottvold Slumbermound".

Instants: 6

2x Snakeskin Veil

-Great with a "Werewolf Pack Leader" since the counter remains and then you can draw a card with him alone if you use his ability to turn into a 5/3. Do not forget about the hexproof.

4x Frost Bite

-Three damage for one mane if you control 3 snow permanents.

Sideboard: 7

+1x Mascot Exhibition

-If you need even more creatures. Evaluating still;

+2x Environmental Sciences

-Fixing; Life gain.

+2x Containment Breach

-Got a nasty artifact or enchantment ruining your day?

+1x Introduction to Annihilation

-Toski has to go!

+1x Basic Conjuration

-Allows you to scry 6 for a creature and gain 3 life. Might add a second in place of "Mascot Exhibition".
