Mythic Ladder 7-1 B01 Esper Burglar Blink

I saw Gabriel Nassif's Azorious control deck featuring a bunch of maindecked Yorion's, and Ben Stark's Orzhov Yorion discard deck and was inspired to re-examine Esper control to see if I could create a marraige between the two decks.

The Azorious control is really more aggressive, looking to get a bunch of tokens on the field with Yorion and Archon or Yori and Omen of the Sun.  My main problem with Esper control was that many of the sacrifice decks (Rakdos, Juns, and really even Mono-black) all have ways of getting that last bit of damage in even when you get the board under control.  I like the addition of a couple lifegain creatures and the ability to blink everything multiple times with additional Yorion's after your first is innevitably exiled before you can get it from the yard with ECD or re-play with Teferi.

The Orzhov deck was really interesting.  Burglar Rat and Yarok's Fenlurker actually feel pretty good against mono-red and rakdos aggro as a 1/1 expendable body helps to chump or trade with low-cost creatures, and the Charming Prince is a decent blocker as well as an enabler for our endless blink combo.

I think the main story here was that you can build this to survive aggro and quickly switch to a more mid-range aggressive build by drawing into multpile Yorions and Charming Prince's and constantly blinking Omen's, Oath of Kaya, and Burglar rats to take over the board.

I loved the Orzhov deck, but I really hate playing with Doom Fortold.  I don't think the plan of just 'casting more stuff' than your opponent, or hoping to draw Treacherous Blessing's to sac ever really works.  Also, in a Yorion build, I don't want to sacrifice my enchantments, I want to bounce and replay them over and over.

I wanted to test out a shell that combines the best of both worlds.  I swapped the Trecherous Blessing's for Omen of the Sea, brought a suite of Burglar Rats (Yarok's mana is too strict for a 3-color deck, though exile is much better in the format), and my favorite under-utilized (and I beleive underestimated) sweeper Extinction Eventimage.  This card is interesting in this deck; I find that you can end up in a situation where you have a lot of tokens and 2-drops on the field with Yorion being the only Odd mana creature.
