Jund variation of the OTK Ilharg combo deck. After looking through decks other people have posted, I decided to make a more competitive decklist that aims to get the combo off more consistently. I've already playtested it in Standard and the results are much better than expected. Going Jund and splashing black is important for taking advantage of board wipes and graveyard resurrection. Main idea is to have a source of haste on the board, cast Ilharg on turn 5, then one shot the opponent with creatures you searched for with Shared Summons. If they remove Ilharg, bring him back with Bond of Revival to make the opponent cry.
If you are short on rare/mythic wild cards, here's a couple tips on what cards should be prioritized, as you do not need every single exact card to pull it off:
Other notes:
Flame Sweep/Cry of Carnarium. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. Sweep only needs 1R and is instant, letting you destroy creatures on your opponent's turn making them waste mana. Cry needs 2B which can stop you from casting it if you don't have enough black lands and is sorcery speed, but exiles all low cost creatures which is helpful against cat oven decks that run Midnight Reaper. You must decide which you value more.
Lack of Ramp. Other decks I've seen use cards like Incubation Druid and Arboreal Grazer in an attempt to get Fires of Invention on the board earlier. Basically, you're either choosing to use low cost ramp creatures or board wipes to keep yourself alive, as it's hard to use both since you'll kill your own creatures. If you like ramp more, get rid of the board wipes and add the creatures mentioned above. I never felt I had a problem with mana since we are running 4x of Thrill of Possibility, which is an easy way to draw lands.
Purphoros, Bronze-Blooded addition. This dude lets you place creatures on the field for 3 mana at the cost of sacrificing it afterwards, while giving all creatures haste. If you have Fires of Invention on the board, you can get some spicy combos off. A huge disadvantage is that you can only place red creatures using his ability, which has lost me games when I only had one of my green creatures in hand. You can try it, but the card is too spicy for me.
Korvold, Fae-Cursed King addition. Tried it to maximize card draw, absolutely horrible. I didn't realize that if he attacks you are required to sacrifice a permanent, and if you only have Fires on the board, say goodbye to your lands.
Historic version. If you want to play this deck in historic, the framework won't be that different. Consider using cards such as Ghalta, Primal Hunger that have naturally high attack or cards with strong ETB effects like Pelakka Wurm and Burning Sun's Avatar. You could probably find a way to use Zacama, Primal Calamity, but that changes the colors of the deck which is more in the jank realm.
