So this is my take on the Enchanment decks that are popping up. I played a few and noticed some frequent situations they fell down.
This is when I got to thinking. Why no just use their creatures instead so thats what I did.
Say hello to Protean Thaumaturge
After a couple of games tweaking I realised that this card saved my bacon lots of times and was often the most pivotal card in the deck.
I'll break each part down then give some great examples of how to use the Protean Thaumaturge in silly ways.
So the basic structure of the deck is to get Season of Growth and Setessan Champion on the battlefield to make an insane draw engine when you play enchanments. Simple enough really. Well no. Often you're Setessan Champion will be removed when possible. This is where the protection enchanments come into play.
Alseid of Life's Bounty and Karametra's Blessing help us protect Setessan Champion
If we want removal spells well this deck actually has them but it takes two cards to do. A creature and Warbriar Blessing allow us to fight another creature, and will all the buffs we get this can be pretty easy to pull off.
Trancendent Envoy is there as an evasive creature and to make things cheaper to cast. (Yes this can be mana hungry)
Eidolon of Obstruction was a late addition to the deck but causing the extra cost on plansewarkers and the first strike have proven to be a good addition.
Bronzehide Lion is a card that just works and can be indestrucatble and return as an enchament if you have another creature on the battlefeild.
Setessan Training is one of the most prioritised cards as the trample means we can still get damage in. Remember this is an aggro deck.
Now to our friend Protean Thaumaturge
So almost every card triggers its ability and wow, you can become any creature on the battlefeild, but in its base from. often people play very large creatures so this can target them and either block and trade with them or we can buff ours to overpower it. We even get the abilities of that creature which we can activate then play another enchanment and change it again in the same turn.
