Pauper - Kenku's Stuffed Animals Mk2
Combo Jank
This deck builds upon a previous deck I created that used Kenku Artificier to target artifacts with mana abilities that allow them to become creatures. The updates were inspired by one of MTG Monster's Pauper videos on YouTube. Be sure to give them a watch.
Main Deck:
The main plan of this deck is the same as my previous one - use Kenku to turn Dire Mimic, Stuffed Bear, and Glint Hawk Idol into 0/0 homunculi with three +1/+1 counters attached to them. You then swing in and activate the artifact's ability for added power, turning a 3/3 into an 8/8, a 7/7 or a 5/5 with flying respectively. The creatures in this deck have been tweaked to help with the flicker effects in the deck, namely Pierce Strider, Thraben Inspector and Chrome Courier. Pierce Strider helps with damage output while Thraben Inspector and Chrome Courier give extra card draw. Thraben's tokens can also be targetted by Kenku if needs be and gives you an early game blocker while you set up your combo.
Blacksmith's Skill gives both a buff and protection; Thoughtcast for card draw; and Remember the Fallen to bring back any artifacts or creatures that have either been destroyed during the game or discarded with Chrome Courier.
Sideboard:
The sideboard for this deck is nothing wild. Archaeomancer gets your bounce spells back from the graveyard; Double Cleave gives your artifact creatures double strike, which can be particularly potent in the early game with Dire Mimic; rounded off by Bioshift which allows you to take advantage of any attacks that can't be blocked to swing in for extra damage by transfering +1/+1 counters.
Oblivion Ring is our main source of removal as it can target anything, but it's backed up by Sunder the Gateway as Sunder is cheaper artifact removal but also gives extra artifact tokens with counters on that can be targeted by Kenku.
