Pauper - Amass Mill

Aggro Midrange

Although this isn't the most efficient mill deck, I wanted to try something a little different. I love token stlye decks, so using the amass mechanic with mill felt like a fun thing to build around. Whilst this deck is meant to be a mill deck, it can also be played aggressively thanks to the large amass tokens, proliferate spells, and dual-purpose mill/burn spells.

This deck was originally built around Surrounded by Orcsimage, supported by creatures like Aven Eternalimage and Grim Initiateimage. Our other spells either amass, proliferate, or mill. Book Burningimage straddles the line between a more aggressive play style and milling your opponent out. If they choose damage, the tokens become a bigger threat. If they choose mill, a few of these spells coupled with the other mill spells will take a big chunk out of their deck. Experimental Auguryimage and Honor the God-Pharaohimage are our card draw engines with added upside, while cards like Callous Dismissalimage and Deceive the Messengerimage help us to stall while we build up our board.

The sideboard is largely focussed around removal and graveyard hate with Cast into the Fireimage, Izzet Charmimage, and Tormod's Cryptimage. Treason of Isengardimage allows us to double down on the mill plan by bringing back our mill spells from the graveyard should we encounter removal heavy decks, or decks with larger creatures that the aggro plan won't work as well on.

The lands in this deck are pretty simple, although geared towards a more aggressive playstyle with the crime lands. Night Marketimage is a great addition as it fixes mana, but also allows us to cycle it away in the late game if we need more card draw. You may find that the quantity of lands can be played with a little as this deck is yet to be tested properly.

Another upside of this deck is that it's pretty cheap. Here is a price breakdown as of mid March 2025 according to Aetherhub:
Creatures: $1.51
Spells: $6.32
Lands: $1.76
Sideboard: $6.53
Total cost: $16.12 or £12.45 or €14.86

Again, this deck might not be the most efficient, but hopefully, it makes for a fun deck to use in more casual play. Enjoy!
