DECK GUIDE
1. INTRODUCTION
This deck is all about assuring your own protection while developing your strategy and basically being invulnerable to almost everything. You can make yourself untargeteable ("Target player... whatever", it won't affect you at all). You also have protection from any damage source dealt to you. In the meantime, you just build up your mana and your road to win.
1.1. PROS
This deck is strong against aggro, mill, lifegain, counters, etc.
1.2. CONS
Vulnerable to enchantment removals (or mass board wipes), counterspells, life drain, etc.
2. HOW TO PLAY
2.1. MAIN COMBO
Having both Nine Lives and Solemnity together on the battlefield grants you immunity to any source of damage. Also having Leyline of Sanctity in your opening hand grants you immunity to any kind of "target player..." effect. This is the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost of this deck.
2.2. WIN CONDITION
Approach of the Second Sun is the answer, unless you're lucky and your opponent dies from boredom (which happens more often than you might think). If you manage to cast it twice in a game, you win. As simple as that.
2.3. HOW TO STAY ALIVE UNTIL THEN?
First you've got a lot of lifegain: Authority of the Consuls, Fountain of Renewal, Revitalize and Approach of the Second Sun itself (the first time you cast it).
You've got a huge arsenal of powerful removals. Settle the Wreckage and Doomskar will help you at getting rid of mostly any creatures. Deppending on your mana curve, you might need to use it as early as possible (that's why Doomskar). Banishing Light should be only used on non-creature threats.
Gift of Estates and Idyllic Tutor are included in the deck for acceleration purposes. You might miss a land or one of the two pieces of your main combo. Castle Ardenvale might help you spamming blockers.
2.4. YOUR WORST WEAKNESS
No deck is invincible, ok? We have that clear? There are some cards you should be very scared off. First of all, you've got Cleansing Nova (if your Nine Lives enchantment leaves the battlefield, you lose automatically). Same thing goes for Planar Cleansing and Ugin, the Spirit Dragon. Effects like "Each opponent..." can still affect you. Lifedrain decks might beat you in some cases. There might be several other cards that make you lose from having your Nine Lives removed from the battlefield.
On the other hand, if you play against mono red, counter decks, discard decks, haste decks, aggro decks in general... you've got an assured win.
2.5. YOUR LAST HOPE
The only card you've got to protect yourself from those annoying cards is Gideon's Intervention. If you're smart enough to recognize one of those cards coming, maybe you can win the battle before it starts. Otherwise, good luck!
3. FINAL THOUGHTS
This deck has been built 100% by myself. I'm awared of there might be thousands of similar decks on the Internet, that's common sense, but I really built it searching for card synergies. This deck helped me a lot reaching Mythic Rank the last season. Give it a try and don't forget to leave a LIKE.
