Tbone originally purchased the Varina precon and upgraded it, but it couldn't get it to work to his liking and eventually completely dismantled it. When Innistrad: Midnight Hunt and Crimson Vow came out, I asked him if I could rebuild this commander with the new support, and he gave his blessing. I limited myself to cards we already had, but of course he had already acquired some good pieces for this deck. Still, there were cards in the recesses of our collection that I found and put in that were not part of the original deck. (Who knew we had that Zombie Master?!) The deck is very tribal focused, with only a Perpetual Timepiece and Lich's Mastery as defenses against decking yourself; a more optimized deck would likely run Lab Man or another empty library win con. And I don't run the Midnight Hunt full art Plains because I couldn't tell it apart from the Swamp... so SoI Plains instead to still be on theme.
