My Hapatra -1/-1 counters deck (In the negative).This deck is really fast. It is not built for long arduous games and is extremely prone to board wipes.

What this deck wants to do is control the early game with 1 and 2 drops. I try to get Hapatra out as soon as I can and start swinging to make snake tokens which will be needed later in the game. I don't mind loading Hapatra with the initial -1 counter because I tend to bring her out multiple times during the game or remove the counter with Decimator Beetle. It's all about the snakes.

Hopefully by the midgame I have a combo piece out (Nest of scarabs, blowfly infestation) or in my hand so I can start my shenanigans.

If I don't have any combo pieces I try to tutor for some Card draw. (Skullclamp, Yawgmoth, P-Arena) to get me my combo pieces.

If my combo pieces get blown up I tend to shrink back into the crowd until I can build up my board presence and go off again.

I win by draining my opponents of their life (Bloodartist, Zulaport, + Nest of Scarabs, Blowfly infestation).

Secondary win condition is to drain as much life as possible and swing in with a bunch of snakes, bugs, or elves (Beastmaster ascension, Shoshiro.)

If this fails I try to dump as much mana into Torment of Hailfire and repeat steps 1 or 2.

What this deck does: VERY IMPORTANT TO READ.

Games rarely go as planned. Opponents do not like having -1 counters placed on their creatures so I usually find myself as the archenemy. Hapatra is usually the first to go and I follow her shortly after If I cannot combo off. That being said, Combo pieces are very important so do not rush to play them. Wait till you can build them all up and sneak them in. I have ended some games with Torment of Hailfire but those are rare.

I like playing this deck because of the interaction it allows me. It does not win me a lot of games or make me friends. So build at your own risk.
