Arena Standard - a Song of Storms

This the jankiest deck I've ever built, but damn does it FEEL GOOD. This deck can win games in the current Ranked Standard on MTGA. I never have been a competitve MTGA player and I got to diamond just by using my home brews like this one. This deck is tough for me to explain in a couple paragraphs cause you have so many options. I'll do my best to stick to the key points and if you want to see this deck in action give me a follow on Twitch or Mixer I plan on making a Youtube video on how to pilot this deck and showing it off, so be on the look out for that as well :) Youtube

OK, enough self promoting B.S. lets talk about "a Song of Storms" Theres a lot of ways this deck can win but the main cards you're going to need out is Wilderness Rec and Song of Creation OR Thousand year storm. Ideally getting all 3 out is best but with all the U/W control its tough.

You wanna look for removal and ramps in your opening hand. Growth spiral, shock, Uro, FLAME SWEEP is the big one. This deck does great against lurrus just cause the flame sweeps and shocks. Early game we are just trying to stay alive and get our enchantments out. Wilderness rec should be the first enchantment you focus on. We have 1 in the sideboard to grab it with Fae of Wishes if needed. Song of Creation / Thousand Year storm should be your next two targets, depending on your situation. For example if you got wilderness rec out there with, song of creation in your hand. Grabbing our other Leyline with Fae thats in the sideboard is A GAME CHANGER. There were SO many games I had to discard my enchantments or sorcerys (like storms wrath) after I un-tapped all my mana. You can only play INSTANTS at the beginning of your end step, when Wilderness triggers. Leyline lets us flash in enchantments or board wipes before we discard them. I only own 2 Leylines of anticipation but you could try adding a whole set!

Ok so on to the fun stuff. Say we survived the early game with our flame sweeps and we're at 1 hp but we have Wilderness Rec, Song & Thousand year out there. Well if you have glimpse of freedom in your graveyard use that at THE END OF YOUR OPPONENTS TURN. This gives us the 2 extra cards from song (which we wont have to discard till the end of our turn), and 1 stack on thousand year. If you draw a growth spiral or opt KEEP CASTING. You play as many spells as you can on your opponents turn so you dont have to discard. If you have Leyline in play you can Flash Uro in too.

At this point you choose how you want to win, do you want to copy spells infinitely with thousand year and repeared reverb and shock him x10000 times. Or do you want to get a MASSIVE Electro Dominace to the face and copy that a bunch; the choice is yours. BUT Keep in mind we BURN through our deck doing this......

Thats where Jace comes in. I first added Jace as a "fail safe" but he ends being the real MVP more often than not. We have one in the main, another in the side that we can grab with Fae of wishes. I almost never hard cast Jace from my hand. We bring him out with Electro-dom. Say our oppontent has a commanding board and has over 1000hp (Mono White). We can electro dom for 4 damage; which cost a total of 6 mana, and drop Jace out there. We can do this during our end step too since electro dom is an instant. Once Jace is out there its off to the races, Draw forever by escaping glimpse of freedom and getting stacks on Thousand year storm. IF you ever had to discard all your thousand years or the Jace you needed you can grab it back in Underworld breach. I only have 1 in my side board cause it felt too situational but I did run 1 in the main for a while.

Like I said at the top this deck is tough to pilot. I'm constantly switching cards in & out too but this version fells the best (so far) and I was winning games in Ranked (Diamond 4) but its soooooooooo fun. Honestly it just feels good, Ive been obessed with Thousand Year Storm and Song of Creation since I saw them and wanted to try and make something work. It took me a while to learn how to play this; practice makes perfect!

In ranked this deck was doing great against any version of Lurrus, and actually can stand up to Mono Reds w/Obosh. Same with Gruul or any agro decks. Flame Sweep, Shock and Flame sweep some more against those guys. U/W (Yorion specifically) will be your toughest match up. They have too many ways to exile our enchantments and return them back to our hand. I just do Bo1 Ranked but if you do Bo3 I would recommend some counters to try and help but even with those, its an up hill battle.

Thanks for taking the time to read all this, this is the first deck discription I've ever written for one of my home brews (of course I chose the most complex one) so if you have any questions or just wanna talk and play some magic hop in my stream and say whats up!

Now hit that export button and START DUELING.
