Brawl - [Brawl] Huatli's Big Butts

This deck is a work in progress. Changes will be made to the deck list and guide as needed.

Not gonna lie. I have an absolutely illogical love for [[Huatli, the Sun's Heart]]. I'm saddened that she doesn't see much play because she really is very niche as a Standard card and quirky to build around as a Brawl commander. But like I said, I love WAR Huatli and I will find any excuse I can to use her. This deck is basically a Proliferate deck, but with a side flavor of kind of revolving around cards that have higher toughness than attack... hence the Big Butts. There are several +1/+1 targets with [[Mowu, Loyal Companion]], [[Chainweb Aracnir]], and even some of our walls or 0/X creatures like [[Grasping Sundew]] and [[Arboreal Grazer]]. Huatli's static makes our creatures deal combat damage by toughness rather than attack. So the bigger our butts, the bigger our damage. As usual, I won't be going through card by card, but rather list some examples of Counter Generation, Counter Targets, Proliferation, and Support.

Counter Generation:

{{Teyo's Lightshield}}{{Jiang Yanggu, Wildcrafter}}{{Ajani, the Greathearted}}{{Idyllic Grange}}{{New Horizons}}{{The Great Henge}}{{Pollenbright Druid}}{{Pledge of Unity}}{{Hydra's Growth}}{{Renata, Called to the Hunt}}{{Heliod, Sun-Crowned}}

We have a bunch of ways to generate +1/+1 counters on creatures. With key cards like Renata, Hydra's Growth, and Henge, we can pile on a fair amount of counters on our creatures. New Horizons also doubles as extra mana from one of our lands. Our Proilferate triggers will only keep them going up. Special note goes to Jiang as he turns all of our creatures with +1/+1 counters on them into ramp. Heliod also enables his own +1/+1 counter condition, but we do have other lifegain abilities to trigger it like [[Healer's Hawk]], [[Daxos, Blessed by the Sun]], [[Bond of Flourishing]], as well as Huatli.

Counter Targets:

{{Mowu, Loyal Companion}}{{Arboreal Grazer}}{{Ardenvale Paladin}}{{Incubation Druid}}{{Daxos, Blessed by the Sun}}{{Bulwark Giant}}

These are some of our big booty targets that we want to get more counters on. The only exception is Mowu, but he can grow WAY out of control if left unchecked anyway. Arboreal Grazer is cute because if you have him and Huatli down, he suddenly becomes a 3/3 with Reach for 1 mana that only goes up when you start pumping out the counters.

{{Huatli's Raptor}}{{Planewide Celebration}}{{Courage in Crisis}}{{Evolution Sage}}

Our proliferate abilities. Evo Sage is the prime one as it proliferates every time a land comes into play. Celebration is the end game proliferate.

{{Huatli, the Sun's Heart}}{{Unbreakable Formation}}{{Beast Whisperer}}{{Guardian Project}}{{Beanstalk Giant}}{{Prison Realm}}{{Pacifism}}{{Once Upon a Time}}{{Bond of Flourishing}}

Huatli is the namesake of the deck. Her static turns all of our big butts into big attack power. Unbreakable Formation can add counters if used on your main phase, but I've usually used it to keep my stuff from dying and allow me to block stuff I normally wouldn't block. Beast Whisperer and Guardian Project are card efficiency. Beanstalk Giant is more for extra ramp. If we get to cast him, great. If not, no big deal. Prison Realm and Pacifism add a bit of spot removal. OUaT not banned in Brawl lul. Bond of Flourishing lets us dig for a permanent and gain some life.
