Updates 8/2/2021:

Current lifetime record in Standard 2022 Play: 71-43

Current lifetime record in Standard 2022 Ranked: 13-5 (Updated 8/2/2021)

I played around with "Deadly Dispute" but felt losing two or four card slots for "potential threats" instead of "actual threats" was not worth it. This deck wants to push the pressure and "Environmental Sciences" is already sluggish enough to fit into a turn. Losing a permanent is not my style, even if it will be destroyed. I force my opponent to use his cards to get rid of mine because there will be another threat. You need your opponent to lower their hand count because "Tergrid's Lantern" is a huge part of this deck. Eyetwitch is perfect for this. You will notice they do not want to get rid of it, that is fine. Swing if you can because it can clog up their hand, allow you to drop that Lantern, and hit that sweet spot of 6 lands.

Had a string of bad beats on 7/31/2021 so more changes were made.

-1x Crippling Fear

-Just didn't do anything substanial most of the time.

-1x Hagra Mauling

-Three of them is more than enough.

=1x Introduction to Annihilation

-Removed to add variety to lesson choices.

+1 Lolth, Spider Queen

+1 Professor Onyx

-I added these in to have some more power. The curve is a bit shady but if you get 6 mana you can start going crazy. Enviornmental Sciences have done a lot of work especially when Onyx is on board.

+1 Necrotic Fumes

-A cheaper option than Introduction to Annihilation if you're not facing an artifact threat. There are still two "Introductions" in the side board if needed.

This deck is playtested and edited regularly.

Lands:

24 Snow-Covered Swamp

-The snow lands are only for Blood on the Snow.

3x Hagra Mauling/Hagra Broodpit

-The suggested landbase from Aetherhub is 27. You will be using Hagra Broodpit more often than the destroy creature effect. It helps to play them early since they come into play tapped.

Creatures:

4x Eyetwitch

-Great against control decks. Searches for fixing, removal, creatures, and recovery.

4x Nighthawk Scavenger

-The MVP of the deck. Use defensively to recover life spent. Slow play and return after wiping with Blood in the Snow.

3x Tergrid, God of Fright/Tergrid's Lantern

-The lantern will be primarily used. It quite oppressive if your opponent is playing on their back foot. Can combo with itself to steal permamnents along side Soul Shatter or Professor Onyx.

 Planeswalkers:

3x Lolth, Spider Queen

-Makes 2x 2/1 w/menace and reach. Pay 1/Draw 1. Helps after board wipes.

3x Professor Onyx

-Pay 1/pick 1 out of 3 of your top cards. Good for when you are facing a creature than you can not target by making your opponent sacrifice it. Helps funnel dead cards from your deck, mainly extra lands. She also drains your opponents life for 2 for every instant/sorcery used and can easily refil spent life.

Artifacts:

1x Eye of Vecna

-Keeps the gas coming, you only need one. You have other cards like Eyetwitch, Lolth, and Onyx that also compliment this card. Do not always use it after casting it to the field. If I play it early and need to play other cards I ignore it until I have the extra mana. It becomes a win-more if not dealt with so it only gets one spot. After rigourous playtesting, this card pops up when you want it and never when you dont. You do not need more thn

3x Tergrid's Lantern

-Put here as a reference. You want it out early as possible. This is your catch-all. Your opponent has to sacrifice to stay alive. Play when you can safely untap with it. It will also come back as a creature if removed from play and brought back.

Sorceries:

4x Blood on the Snow

-Wipe then get your Nighthawk, Onyx, or Lolth back. It is the only reason for the snow-lands.

4x Feed the Swarm

-Save mainly for enchantments/tokens. Skeletal Swarming decks can be a problem without it.

2x Bloodchief's Thirst

-Used early to break tempo or late w/kicker to take out something.

Instants:

2x Soul Shatter

-Great for planeswalkers or big mana nasties. More than likely they will have to play their planeswalker into an empty board leaving only one target. It also helps by targeting the most expensive one so it limits the opponents choices further.

3x Baleful Mastery

-Used mainly against graveyard effects creatures or planeswalkers.

3x Hagra Mauling

-Put as a reference. Can kill EoT or other creatures with trigger effect. Mainly used as a land source. Great against manlands since it is instant speed.

Sideboard/Lessons:

2x Environmental Sciences

-Good for getting health back and thinning the deck of lands. Better early game. Can also be used for the life gain benefit. Combo this with onyx and you can gain 4 life, deal 2, and then get a land.

2x Introduction to Annihilation

-I will suggest saving the Introduction to Annihilation for troublesome artifacts, like Tergrid's Lantern. I added in a Necrotic Fumes as a faster option when not facing Artifacts/Enchantments threats.

1x Confront the Past

-Lets you get back or kill a planeswalker. You will primarily be using this to get back a planeswalker.

1x Mascot Exhibition

-Creatures for blocking or attacking

1x Necrotic Fumes

-Exile that pesky Toski ;), try and use it with Eyetwitch to keep the pressure up otherwise Lolth's spiders are great targets. This is for desperate needs since Baleful Mastery is main deck and faster.
