Arena Standard - Scute swarm Ultimatum (revamp!)

Moraug seems like an interesting addition to the deck. I'm running one for fun, though im not currently playing the deck on rank.

Update 2: I've removed the maybe board and incoporated the suggestions I had there into a new version. I went 7-1 on diamond! It wont always be that way but it felt good :). I learnt that Ashaya dodges doom foretold, since it counts as a land. Yes you discard a card but you keep a great resource, and that won me the game. The deck has a lot more synergies now.

Update 1: I've added some suggestions for alternative and synergising cards. I think there can be many versions and some ultimatum decks dont run scute swarm but can still hit hard. The scute swarm however does well when an ultimatum only hits lands. I forgot about the triome land [whoops! :) ]and I'm running it now in my own personal version.

I meant this as a fun deck but eventually tried it on rank. My earlier versions of this deck perfomed poorly and I lost a lot of ground. But eventually the current posted deck helped me get from platinum 4 to platinum 2. After a while of fighting on platinum 2, I found mono red was too fast for the version listed here (which is why I suggest fire prohecy or some good removal). I then switched to an aggro deck to fight with on rank.

Just something extra: I used to run almost a single deck on ladder in general. But if you feel comfortable as a player I suggest having a few decks to run with. This stops the fatigue and boredom of playing the same deck and also helps you switch in a losing streak. I definitely seem to move in either winning streaks or losing streaks.

A strong player once told me that playing on high rank requires not only choosing a good deck, but also learning the nuances of playing against the various types of opposition. So you have to learn the deck and how to think through re-occurring opposing strategies. Also I find that when I start a magic arena session, my first few games often have some bad mistakes :). Theoretically I should warm up on free play. But I've never learnt that lesson :).
