Good day, my Magic Militia! What I have for you today is a spicy Boros weenie build revolving around our favorite joiner of forces, [[Winota, Joiner of Forces]]. Now I know why this card is banned and busted in Historic. This deck screams! Literally, this deck has a turn four win if you have her in your hand along with several other "nuts" that this deck has. That said, this deck has other synergies that do not require Winota, as we shall see. At its heart, this deck could easily pass as a Knight tribal deck.
DIGGING IN: [[Venerable Knight]] kicks off the party, beefy one-drop with a rather convenient ability upon its death. [[Fervent Champion]] is our other one-drop: beefs up knights, swings in on turn one, and if you have multiple in your hand you can gain a sizeable early advantage and big board. [[Inspiring Veteran]] pumps up our knights while [[Skyknight Vanguard]] churns out tokens that play into Winota. [[Rimrock Knight]] gives us a hefty knight while its Adventure ability pumps up other creatures and feeds into Winota. [[Raise the Alarm]] puts out tokens that feed Winota (seeing a theme here?) and gives us a wider board. [[Legion Warboss]] also pumps out tokens and makes them bigger (and feeds Winota) while [[Skyknight Legionnaire]] is a hasty boi that can come over the top of most Aggro builds. [[Lurrus of the Dream-Den]] brings 20 of our cards back onto the battlefield (and once more, feeds Winota). The sideboard is fairly techy but flexible: [[Hushbringer]] for our entering the battlefield decks, [[Flame Sweep]] against weenie builds, [[Shatter the Sky]] for everything else, and [[Justice Strike]] for some spot removal. [[Unbreakable Formation]] gives us some guard against mass removal and can pump up our creatures.
ADVANTAGES: 1) This deck goes wide and does so very quickly. Literally, you can have a turn four win with this beast if Winota drops in time. 2) Even without Winota, the deck stands very well on its own with some of the Knight synergies and 3) It is super fun to play. I have had more fun honing this deck than any other deck out there. It is super fun to just slam in on a control build or an aggro deck that doesn't pop off in time.
DISADVANTAGES: 1) I think this is a better Bo3 deck than a Bo1 deck because we can adjust against mass removal 2) Against mass removal, this deck gets hosed. While there are some great synergies with the cards, especially the knights, this deck is susceptible to mass removal and 3) Without the nuts (Winota, non-humans), the deck can drag, so good draws and good opening hands are required.
Overall, this deck got me into the higher ranks of Silver last season and I plan on riding that train again. While a lot of the cards rotate out in over a month, this deck could do wonders with getting lower-ranked players into Gold or even the next step up. It is also a ton of fun to play!
