Combo

STRATEGY

A perfect opening looks something like this:

  • 1 drop Ghast
  • 2 Deadly Dispute Ghast (or drop Priest)
  • 3 drop Merchant
  • 4 drop Catapult
  • 5 drop Phalanx
  • 6 drop Catapult
  • 7 Feign Death Phalanx, Catapult it, then Catapult it with 2nd Catapult for 27 damage without even attacking

Or

  • 1 drop Ghast
  • 2 Deadly Dispute Ghast (or drop Priest)
  • 3 drop Merchant
  • 4 ramp to Phalanx
  • 5 drop Lumberknot

Attack with Phalanx for 13/13 and if we can get in with the Merchant 4/4 and Priest 4/4. If they aren't dead by next few turns, we can eventually get our Catapult set up and can Catapult for the win. The Catapult turns into 6/6 and can even transform with Lumberknot already in play since Lumberknot only changes power when assigning combat damage. Great synergy all around. 

COMBOS

  • Chump block, Catapult creature 
  • Chump block, Feign Death, Catapult it
  • Chump block, Merchant sac creature, gain Treasure token
  • Chump block, Feign Death, Merchant sac creature, gain Treasure token
  • Any creature being instantly removed can be included in any of the chump block combos
  • Feign Death a Priest, sac it to kill a creature, can kill another creature later on
  • Feign Death, Deadly Dispute creature to draw2 cards, create Treasure and +1/+1 counter (If you Deadly Dispute a Merchant you'll get 2 Treasures!)
  • Feign Death a Merchant, Catapult it, get another treasure token
  • Feign Death a Phalanx, Catapult it and Catapult it next turn for 27 damage
  • With 7 Mana, a Feign Death in hand, 2 Catapults and a Phalanx on board we can Feign Death the Phalanx, Catapult it and Catapult it again with the 2nd Catapult for 27 damage in 1 turn without attacking

NOTES

  • Catapulting creatures cannot be countered
  • This deck needs to remove fliers since we cannot block them.
  • You can mix and match infernal Grasp, Poison the Cup, Meathook Massacre, Bloodchief Thirst, or Heros Downfall whichever you prefer. Posion the Cup allows us to use up our 2 Mana on turn 2 if we miss a Priest or Deadly Dispute and scry to help hit the cards we need. Heros Downfall hits Planeswalkers.
  • Feel free to remove the Faceless Havens if you want, or add in a 3rd. You really need 6 Forest lands though
  • Undying Malice can be substituted for Feign Death as it's the same card.
