Vito allows us to drain our opponents whenever we gain life, which in this deck happens quite often.
8 damage for one mana?!? Sign me up!
Gaining one life per activation may not seem like a lot, but incremental damage and keeping your opponents graveyard in check is nice! especially against Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger.
Gaining five life for three mana and causing a ten point life swing with vito in play is a seriously strong interaction. Not to mention Kenrith allows us to reanimate our creatures later on in the game!
Speaking of Kenrith, what about his other abilities?
Dryad lets us play additional lands each turn and has the secret tech of allowing us to activate all five of kenrith's abilities!
Rounding out the deck we play a few spell lands for additional land drops and utility.
Being able to find all of our creatures is quite handy, and since the deck is very combo orientated, having Vito in play is vital.
acting as both a mana dork and land drop when we need it.
a fun-of. But not a card to sneeze at. Having one rebuy on a multitude of relevant cards in the late game can be back breaking for the opponent!
Interaction:
Since we are in abzan, specifically black, we have access to some of the best removal in the format!
acting as an early game removal spell and late game removal against both creatures and planeswalkers. Even being a sorcery this card is nuts.
Since we are gaining life quite often, the drawback of losing life to this card is virtually irrelevant. Again, even with being a sorcery it kills any creature AND enchantment, an ability that black never really gets.
just a few copies to clean up whatever creatures remain.
