What happens when you take the traditional Mono-Red in Standard and splash blue for historic? What happens when you pair Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive with Cavalcade of Calamity and make your creatures unblockable dealing lethal amounts of damage. Then end the game with Hidetsugu's Second Rite.
The Pieces:
The three main pieces of the deck. Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive, Cavalcade of Calamity, and Hidetsugu's Second Rite.
The Creatures:
We have 19 creatures in this deck. Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive is our main key card here. As soon as the rogue comes out most of our creatures are unblockable. Gingerbrute and Scorch Spitter are our key 1 drops to bring pressure in the early game. Legion Warboss will generate goblin tokens for more damage. Siren Stormtamer will help us protect our Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive if our opponent will try to kill it. Bonecrusher Giant is questionable in this deck. But it should help us take care of pesky creatures and give us a solid body in the midgame.
The Spells:
Our only counterspell in this deck is Syncopate. I was debating if I should change it for negates? Good old, Lightning Strike to disrupt the opponents' creatures and Light Up the Stage to fetch us more cards. Cavalcade of Calamity is a must in every red deck to deal double damage. Hidetsugu's Second Rite is our game-ender card. After dealing with 10 damage we can end the game with just that card.
The Planeswalkers:
We are running 3x Chandra, Acolyte of Flame and 1x Chandra, Fire Artisan. Chandra, Acolyte of Flame is our heavy hitter and game-changer. Just it's middle ability to constantly create tokens with haste can finish the game. I just added 1x Chandra, Fire Artisan for the +1 ability to help us dig for cards.
The Lands
Pretty straight forward. Running a full set of Fabled Passage and Steam Vents. 3x [Temple of Epiphany]] and the rest of the basic lands are 4x Island and 9x Mountain
Conclusion:
This deck is super fun when you get the key pieces. I was able to pull off a few Hidetsugu's Second Rite. You can check out the video and see it in action. I did get wreck by Elfball and life gain decks with Ajanis Pride quite often. I hope you all enjoy. :)
