Bedevil Burn
Go to hell!…is the theme to this deck. Create devil tokens that you care nothing about, and let them die serving you and your Planeswalkers. Chip away at you opponents life points while preventing them for gain any back.
The Creatures:
Footlight Fiend
is the turn 1 drop that you can’t go wrong with as with most the devil’s in this deck, when they die the burn any target for one, useful little minion.
Hobblefiend
is a step up here, they lets us get some bigger hits in when you feed them some lesser devils, and can combo well in doing this to get some of the bigger threats of the battlefield when combined with available burn.
The Spells:
Play with Fire
is a bread and butter burn spell for the deck with scry to help with the next draw, I majority of the time use these early on to hit the face of the opponent.
Reckless Impulse
to dig into our deck and get some more spells out, better to use on or around turn 4, but can work well to help as a mana fix early on.
Bedevil
is the namesake card of the deck, if you have a problem, it can fix it most of the time.
Burn Down the House
board wipe when things get bad, of just a way to call in reinforcements.
The Other Stuff:
Roiling Vortex
can put the game on a timer, chipping away at all player life points, with the added ability to stop life gain of your foes. The one can a pain for you as well if not for our next card here.
Ob Nixilis, the Adversary
is the GOAT of the deck, with devils in play you gain life every time to use his ability, always do casualty if possible, and try to keep the token version alive since it plays better when you cast him again later on.
Tibalt, Rakish Instigator
says no to life gain as well, but without a reoccurring cost, plus he can create a couple devils to come out and play.
Zariel, Archduke of Avernus
pricy but useful, every turn creating another devil token and if an opening occurs, his plus can hit with some pain (especially stacked with Castle Embereth
)
The Gameplan:
Burn everything. Every point can matter.
Always try to keep a devil in play for Ob Nixilis, the Adversary and attack as best as you can, getting cheap shots in. Most the time I end up keeping the devils back for defense and chip away at my opponents hit points.
I’ve ran versions with Curse of Shaken Faith
or Cavalcade of Calamity
which both did well in place of the Roiling Vortex, but was missing a little heat. (The Cavalcade of Calamity did really well but felt it was a fluke)
