Learn more Download For WindowsA (mostly) planeswalker-free Esper control decklist. Beats almost all forms of aggro and midrange, handles various combo and opposing control decks okay, but has very weak pre-board matchup against Grixis and somewhat unfavorable matchup against Scapeshift, and straight up loses to conventional Esper control.
Main win condition is to simply mill the opponent out, but in a pinch you can also just apply beats with Zombie token generated by Enter the God-Eternals. Try to save Clear the Mind for the point when you've exhausted at least three of four Bond of Insight, or if there's simply nothing left to do half-way through a deck. Dovin's Acuity is the workhorse that builds absolutely ridiculous amounts of card advantage for you while keeping your life total up, but it's also fine to keep hands with Opt and early interaction like Disfigure and Kaya's Wrath. 2-land hands are fine due to having 26 lands in the deck and the immense amount of draw.
Planar Cleansing, Despark, and singleton Vraska's Contempt are your only lines of defense against Planeswalkers pre-board, so Superfriends-style decks will likely overwhelm you. Aforementioned Grixis is also a pain since the only time you shouldn't have a hand to discard is when you're on the way to losing.
