Description

I played through 15 wins using the following deck list. It plays like a standard control deck. The W/L records beside the decks are after I finished my 15 wins. Hopefully this helps some people complete their 15 too.

Goal: Control the board until you kill them with Ill-Gotten Inheritanceimage or they concede.

4 Ob Nixilis's Cruelty (WAR) 101
4 Devious Cover-Up (GRN) 35

2 Syncopate (DAR) 67
3 Dead Weight (GRN) 67

Possible Changes to the deck in current WAR Pauper Event Meta
Remove 3x of the Tap Lands - Tends to lose when the only thing you draw is tap lands in the opening hand.

Starting Hand
If you have a single island and swamp, you are generally in a good place. Also, look for Essence Scatterimage, Dead Weightimage, and Moment of Cravingimage.

Key Cards
Devious Cover-Upimage - Try to save these until you have used up your removal and counter magic. Then use it to recover only removal and counter magic. Never use it to bring back card draw unless you cast it out of desperation and you don't have 4 cards that are removal or counter magic.

Ill-Gotten Inheritanceimage - Save these until you have full board control or they are only hitting you for 1 damage and you have removal in your hand and not enough mana for Ill-Gotten and counter magic.

The Current Pauper Meta
Most popular decks from what I have seen is Mono Red, Mono Black, and Dimir Midrange.

The Mirror Match (0-2)

Haven't seen the mirror but only twice. Haven't been able to figure out the strategy to beat it.

Dimir Midrange (1-0)

Dimir Midrange is 50/50 depending on whether or not you can keep them from Amassing bigger than 5/5. With the removal in this it shouldn't be a problem. However this is not a prevalent deck from what I have played against. Try to wait to use removal until the end of their turn. You want to wait and respond to their move so you can make sure they don't pump the army.

Mono White (1-0)

Mono White is typically one of the 2 hardest decks to play against but I haven't played it too much. You opening draw pretty much decides if you stand a chance. If you can keep them from playing a creature for the first 4 turns you are probably going to win.

Mono Red (1-1)

Spellgorger Weirdimage, Burning Prophetimage, Fire Urchinimage are a pain. You need to make sure the Spellgorger doesn't hit the board or you can remove it quickly otherwise they can pump it quickly.

Mono Black (2-0)

Keep them from Amassing an army larger than 5/5.

Golgari (1-0)

Haven't played against enough to win.

Rat Colony (1-0)

Destroy all rats until they run out of cards in hand. This is the toughest match up for Dimir Control.
