Control Jank

Hey everyone. So awhile ago, Merchant did a video for a Death and Taxes deck that I really took a shine to. I've been trying to find ways to make it work post rotation with varying degrees of success. I think D&T is a meme at this point, hence the Jank tag, but it is still really fun to pull off and just annoy your opponent into submission. Both Throne of Eldraine and Theros Beyond Death gave us some really cool tools to add to our arsenal.

The Death:

{{Mortify}}{{Kaya's Wrath}}{{Shatter the Sky}}{{Planar Cleansing}}{{Liliana, Dreadhorde General}}

Mortify gives us target removal on creatures and enchantments, both of which are in high number in THB. Kaya's Wrath, Shatter, and Cleansing are all wrath effects to wipe the board clean. Kaya's will gain us life from our creatures that are destroyed and Shatter will allow someone to draw a card if they control a creature with power 4 or greater. Lili is bae in this deck as she generates fodder for us as well as forcing sacs with her -4 and ult. Her static gives us a nice chunk of card efficiency.

The Taxes:

{{Smothering Tithe}}{{Revenge of Ravens}}{{Hushbringer}}{{Eidolon of Obstruction}}{{Underworld Dreams}}{{Archon of Absolution}}{{Tithe Taker}}{{Ethereal Absolution}}

 These are all cards that make it more annoying for our opponents to do things. Just think of us as your friendly neighborhood tax collector. Tithe and Dreams tax your opponent's card draw. Tithe forces the opponent to pay 2 or give you ramp. Dreams flat out punishes high efficiency by dealing 1 damage to your opponent for every card drawn. Revenge and Archon tax your opponent's attacks. Revenge drains one for each attacker your opponent declares. Archon forces your opponent to pay 1 for each declared attacker along with having Prot White. Basically a better [[Baird, Steward of Argive]]. Hushbringer denies ETB and On-Death triggers. Tithe Taker taxes your opponents spells cast on your turn. Eidolon taxes your opponent's Planeswalker loyalty abilities with an extra 1 mana cost. Absolution taxes power and toughness of the opponent's creatures while giving ours a boost. It also gives us a mana dump to exile creatures in the opponent's graveyard to give us a 1/1 Spirit.

The Miscellany:

{{Castle Ardenvale}}{{Castle Locthwain}}

Ardenvale gives us dudes to spawn for fodder. Locthwain gives us card draw at the cost of life.

I really love D&T as an archetype, but right now it is more of a Janky meme. So I wouldn't suggest blowing wildcards on it if you are on a budget. However, if you have a wild hair and want to play an out-of-the-norm Control deck, then feel free to give this a try and let me know what you think.
