Esper Stax is back!! (Well really it still isn't that great but its a new and improved deck in a new format so therefore I can say its back)!!

I have been fine tuning the Esper Stax shell with the new Theros cards ever since the set was released and I think I have finally got the deck to a point where its pretty playable.

First the new inclusions:

All of these cards are significant upgrades from their predecessors in my opinion. Back in the old days, your relevant two drop with the deck was limited to either Golden Eggimage or Guild Globeimage. These cards gave you the card draw engine when entering the battlefield, but more importantly acted as sacrifice targets to keep Doom Foretold going. Now however, Treacherous Blessingimage has kind of shifted the infrastructure of the build. I am running 10 different three drop enchantments, as well as 4 two drops, which guarantees that you will have sac targets for Doom Foretold the vast majority of the time. Since Treacherous Blessing is a three drop however, we need a replacement two drop to fill out the curve. Omen of the Seaimage is an obvious 1 to 1 replacement for Guild Globe]], however for Golden Egg there aren't too many obvious upgrades. Instead of going for the enchantment route, I have found Protean Thaumaturgeimage to be a real MVP so far. Whenever you play an enchantment, this guy can become a copy of any creature on the battlefield. This is very pesky for the opponent to deal with in the early game, and depending on what you copy can give the deck a lot of increased flexibility.

I wanted to limit the number of creatures I'm playing so Time Wipe can still be a game winning play, but arguably the most important inclusion to the deck is a creature in Dream Trawlerimage. You find yourself losing a lot of life while playing this deck since you don't have too much defense from aggro decks in the early game and you do feel the damage from Treacherous Blessing sometimes, so having a massive lifelinker in the late game is basically a clincher 90% of the time. There is so much card draw in this deck however that if Dream Trawlerimage can survive one turn you can usually buff it up enough to swing in for 7-10 damage which often times will be lethal. Also, you can copy the card with Protean Thaumaturgeimage which is basically unbeatable. In the late game with this deck you are almost never out of cards in hand, so the discard to give the Trawler hexproof is a mild inconvenience at most.

I am not totally sold on the two drop enchantment sagas for both White and Blue, so I don't have them in this build, but I think there are still a few flex spots to be tinkered with. I think Duress is good but not 100% necessary, and Tyrant's Scornimage is kind of a just a filler one drop. I don't think going up to 26 lands is necessary since there is so much card draw in the build, and I haven't found a great one drop enchantment I feel needs to be included. Shatter the Skyimage or Archon of the Sun's Grace are two cards im looking at, but there is probably something else out there that may be a better fit.
