Blakeizen's Grixis Amass Control

coming back to my baby for M20 standard.

What's up spellslingers! Blakeizen here with the Saturday morning build for you! Sorry, we took a week off. Check out the Deck Tech on YouTube: Grixis Amass Control. The video goes over the card choices and showcases the deck in action along side some game play commentary for those interested in picking it up. We all know Grixis is the best and most awesomest 3-color plane in MTG, and this is one of my favorite ways to play it! You don't see Amass getting love very much, and that's what this list aims to do!

Let's start this write up by taking a look at the actual Amass cards that we're running. Dreadhorde Invasionimage is one of THE best cards in the deck. It's a low-risk, low-reward, but that compounds the more of these you have on the board. Three copies on board? It's now high-risk, high-reward. Try to avoid having 3 copies down if you can, it gets a lot harder to stay alive lol. Two copies down and this is just right. Lose 1 life, but Amass 1 each turn. It's a bit slow to get going, but a huge snowball when it does. This is one of the more difficult cards to play with in the list and it will take some getting used to. Be sure you're actually playing this as early as possible versus aggro matchups!

Widespread Brutalityimage is our board clear of choice. Amass 2, sometimes in g1 versus a cotnrol list you're just going to cast it for that alone. But, in most matches, Amass 2 and then it deals damage equal to it's power to each non-army creature. This WILL hit your other dudes, but this effect gets bigger and bigger the longer Dreadhorde Invasionimage sits on board. It just so happens that 2 damage to everything is good enough in the current meta game, and we only go up from there!

Gleaming Overseerimage and Enter the God-Eternalsimage round out our deck versus aggro like Mono-Red, and Vamps. Gleaming Overseerimage is a 1/4 for 3, it gets your Army started, and at the same time protects it. This is huge into Shockimage, or even Teferi, Time Ravelerimage. They're for sure not going to bounce the 1/4 part of the card, and they can't target the other. Let's not forget, it also gives the Army the Menace ability, which makes it much more difficult to block. Very relevant when we're trying to trigger the Lifelink part of Dreadhorde Invasionimage. Do note that you can swing with at least a 6/6 Army, gain the Lifelink and then cast Widespread Brutalityimage after combat to make all the Widespread Brutalityimage damage Lifelink damage. Go ahead and gain a million life my dude.

Also when it comes to gaining life, Enter the God-Eternalsimage is a huge card for us. You may think this card is dead in slow matches where the opponent isn't playing a creature, but nope. You can always hit your own creatures, and I would even suggest hitting your tiny little 2/2 Army Token with it. The Army takes 4 damage at the same time that it gains 4 toughness through the Amass 4. If you have the Dreadhorde Invasionimage down, you'll gain 10 life on the spot most of the time.

These are the rest of the cards we're going to use to close out a game. Kefnet is a cool dude in a controlly kind of shell. We'd benefit more from his effect if we played more instants and sorceries, however he's still a 4/5 Flying Boi for 4 CMC. He's also really hard to keep down. Huge blocker to put in front of your opponent and as it turns out, Flying OP.

Cavalier of Galesimage is absolutely one of my favorite Mythics right now. You're not seeing it very much but it's effect is powerful. Draw 3, two go back on top of your deck. Want your Chandra, Awakened Infernoimage to dodge the incoming Thought ErasureimagePut it back on top of your deck. This is very hard to deal with, and I'd love to play more of this card. If you have any lists using this thing shoot me a message, I'd love to give it a try!

We round the deck out with some spot removal and ways to get some card advantage. Legion's Endimage is an incredible card, and Bedevilimage is the most flexible removal we have open to us. We can also make some interetyinh plays with Bedeck // Bedazzle so keep that in mind if you're looking to tune the deck any further.

I don't need to explain Thought Erasureimage to you. This card is nuts and will be nuts until it rotates.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And that's my Grixis Amass Control! I hope you enjoy it. Tell me how your games go if you give it a try. It's relatively inespensive for Arena standards (we're not looking at a ton of Mythics). Now that my mini-vacation is over, I'm looking forward to grinding and playing a ton of this list!

Don't forget to show me some love!

I understand that. It's a difficult card to use for sure!

I know you're going for an amass deck but it just feels so much worse for it. Tried a few games and in all of them Dreadhorde Invasion just felt like a liability.
