Good morrow Magic Muffins! First off, thank you for your kind words and likes on my latest article "Experimental Frenzy"; it gives me some validation knowing that my thoughts are shared by others in this wonderful community. In the spirit of that article, I present to you what can only be described as a "this deck should not work in a million years yet somehow it kinda sorta does" deck. I had a long day yesterday between middle school track practice, shuttling the kids between babysitters and dance class, and cooking dinner, so naturally after dance class ended at 730 and I got home, I was done and needed to veg while the kids had a late snack and took in an episode of Paw Patrol. After Arena updated, I began playing and I bought 4 packs of WAR, inviting my 7 year old daughter to come in and see what I got. Pulled a [[Nissa, Who Shakes the World]]. Great stuff, I needed that card. Pulled a [[Vivien, Champion of the Wilds]], even better! Daughter wanted to build a deck named Dark of the Dead around those cards. No problem. I got inspired by the multi-colored zombies in the deck and came up with this deck. So we threw a deck together with a [[Banehound]] as a cover art and a bunch of one drop black and green creatures. Tweaked the deck after she went to bed (and after I explained to her as she cried that I deleted the deck and started anew, that this is how we build good decks and how we figure out what works and what doesn't) and came up with this deck.

DECK TIME: [[Llanowar Elves]], ramp, one drop, good stuff. [[Diregraf Ghoul]] gets a 2 powered Chainwhirler-proof body out early while [[Dreadmalkin]] gives us a pumpable one-drop that can snack on [[Reassembling Skeleton]]s all game long. Really, this card surprised me. It is a junk card. Yet, it won me games!  [[Rhizome Lurcher]] gives us a big body with a nice synergy with our graveyard. Oh yeah and [[Death Baron]] pumps them and gives them deathtouch. *dab*. [[Find]] works well with its graveyard retrieval and board wipe capability. Planeswalkers, let's get to them! [[Storrev, Devkarin Lich]] is a nice big body in place of the Molderhulk and it gives us more graveyard retrieval. The aforementioned Nissa gives us more firepower to churn out big bodies and make our lands attack people. Vivien gives us the capability to cast Ghouls on an opponent's turn and then swing in, she can also provide vital blocking power with her +1 capability. [[Lilianna, Dreadhorde General]] is really a no-brainer here, she churns out zombies, forces sacrifices, and her God ability is just a clincher. [[Vraska, Swarm's Eminence]] has some nice synergy with the Baron and makes creatures as well. Sideboard has situational plays like [[Naturalize]] for our Azcantas and Tribunals and Bindings, [[Cry of the Carnarium]] for our aggro plays, [[Cast Down]] for bigger guns, and [[The Elderspell]] for our Superfriend builds. I did toy with putting [[Vraska's Contempt]] in, but I figured the CMC was a bit too high.

ADVANTAGES: 1) somehow, this deck works with all its latent synergies and it is surprisingly good at dodging mass removal 2) it can get wide quickly with our one drops and 3) it has the makings of a flexible deck with early threats and late bombs.

DISADVANTAGES: 1) it is clunky at times and nowhere near competitive (but fun to play) 2) mass removal, despite some access to graveyards, does slow us down and 3) [[Ashiok, Dream Render]] completely screws us and 4) we have no lifegain or card advantage so the deck relies on early force followed by later bombs, a true midrange deck.

Overall, this deck still needs tweaking, but in the spirit of experimentation, it is a fun idea to try out. I would love feedback on this deck as I found that it does relatively well against Esper (with our graveyard manipulation) and keeps pace with Aggro, but it against Mono U Tempo and Gates, we have issues. Work on it, let me know! My daughter would love to know how it works for you all. Until then, may all your draws be God-like and may all your spells hit the board. Good hunting!
