Arena Standard - Simic To War

Greetings Fellow Planeswalkers

Today I bring my first humble addition to aetherhub. Behold, the simic army! This deck is surprisingly powerful, and a ton of fun to play in standard. I'm going to go through the list in as much detail as I can so hang in there. This list is designed to abuse the hell out of the "new" proliferate mechanic.

Playing out our first couple of turns is simple; slam Llanowar Elvesimage, Incubation Druidimage, and then either a merfolk or Wildgrowth Walkerimage. While this seems a little vanilla we can't discount our wild friend as he gives us a great source of life to get through the early game, and will make a fine body with some proliferate action.

Once we have this small group we can either drop Karn's Bastionimage, or Evolution Sageimage. I included the second mainly to get a second source of cheap proliferate on the board. He allows us to buff our creatures nearly every turn for the low low price of playing a land! All of this wrapped up in a three drop! Just be careful not to play him to early as our opponent will be slamming removal to get rid of our other threats.

The core of the deck's win ability comes in the form of Hadana's Climb // Winged Temple of Orazcaimage, Zegana, Utopian Speakerimage or just through a big body and heavy doses of pressure.

We use the explore package to fight against heavy aggro decks, and to get through our deck. Hydroid Krasisimage is our source of hand restocking.

Winning with this deck requires a bit of patience to build up a superior board state. Rather than win via a large army of small creatures, or burning our opponents face off, we rely on large high quality threats. Because each of our creatures is a potential problem in and of itself this deck demands constant removal or solutions to practically anything we play. You will see many of your soldiers fall to things like Cast Downimage or Skewer the Criticsimage but our opponent will eventually exhaust himself.

While this deck is good at making big beefy bois, it doesn't make them quickly. As such this deck doesn't do very well against anything that evades or goes wide so our sideboard takes care of that.

We use Arbor Armamentimage and Kruul Harpooner to take down evasive creatures like we see in mono u tempo.

Against wide decks or anything that runs difficult to deal with abilities we run Mass Manipulationimage to convice the herd that we are the better side.

Finally Sinister Sabotageimage finds a place against other control matchups to beef up our spell defenses and to try and thin out some of the heavier stuff they send our way such as Kaya's Wrathimage or Ritual of Sootimage.

I hope you guys enjoy the list, and as always, Stay Excellent My Friends!
